Melbourne
There are three active ice rinks in Melbourne currently. All of them run beginner and intermediate hockey classes to get you skating, crossing over, puck handling and most important of all, stopping!
Classes generally align with school terms, however both IceHQ and Olympic offer casual drop-in classes if you miss out on the start of term and want to get started right away.
O'Brien Icehouse, Docklands
Hockey Academy at O'Brien Icehouse offers a wide range of classes including:
Adult Intro
On the Edge (skating technique and edgework)
Hockey Fundamentals (intermediate hockey skills)
Power Skating
Shooting 101
Puck Control
Goaltending Clinic
O'Brien Icehouse also provides off-ice classes and have an on-site gym for general training.
IceHQ, Reservoir
IceHQ's Ice Hockey Academy caters to all skill levels with beginner, intermediate and advanced classes.
IceHQ also offers the option of attending single classes on a casual basis, perfect for anyone who's missed the start of term or simply wants to try a class out before committing.
Olympic Ice Skating Centre, Oakleigh
Next Level Hockey Australia (NLHA) runs classes at Oakleigh's Olympic Ice Skating Centre for beginner, intermediate and advanced players, as well as one on one or small group goalie training.
NLHA also provides single drop-in classes throughout the term.
Sydney
Macquarie Ice Rink, North Ryde
Macquarie Ice Rink run general skating classes as well as Ice Hockey Learn to Skate classes. For information on ice hockey training contact the rink on (02) 9888 1100.
